Abraham's Paradox

Though I understand how terrifically strange it is
Abraham's God is my God too
That same God who told the old man full of love
To kill his only son and understand the clue
To sink his blade into innocent flesh with no explanation
Other than the character of God Himself is my God
What kind of Character would test a chosen vessel so
It strikes me initially as obtuse extreme odd

I know many stumble over this aspect
I will let others dissect the philosophy
Such as it is the story still has to make sense
To regular people who find the virtuosity
The elegance of the request hard to grasp
It's hard to grasp that knife
And consider the sacrifice of your only son
To feel the agony bitterness and strife

Abraham's paradox belongs to me
You see I'm the reason why
I'm the chosen guy with causality dripping
From my genes programmed to live and die
With wry observations and a sanguine whine on my lips
Weeping laughter right on cue
I too have a spiritual choice to make in this matter
For Abraham's God is my God too
