History Day

We had a History Day in Franklin Tennessee,
Visited Winstead Hill and the Carter House.
Saw both perspectives, learned
A bit about a cranky southern louse.

The bloodiest battle ever
Relived; a Tennessee vice.
The Historian wants us
To respect the sacrifice

They made, the legacy of life and death.
Survivors procreating. Peace,
The dead will never tell. Their story,
The echoes will never cease.

Over a thousand bullet holes
In the home and cotton gin
Testify to God’s peculiar plan;
Fighting against, but allowing sin
