Mistletoe In The Oak Forest

In the winter the mistletoe looks
Beautiful   green   alive in contrast
To the old oaks that root this forest
Tired guardians planted in the past

The mistletoe has argued it's case
Successfully   dwelling with the oaks
After all they're fun at holidays
Happy imps stealing kisses from folks

Little parasites with a duty
To feed and not to regard their prey
Sapping the strength living off their hosts
The oaks pray for relief from their sway

Yet they refuse to do anything
Why   it's time to do some cutting out
Before the mistletoe takes the last
Branch   with no remorse it's time no doubt
