The Un-adopted

They're there
           in the Big Orphanage
                                    the un-adopted
Waiting to see if they will be Chosen
their game is to puff-up and pretend
they don't want to be selected
They push away to see
if the potential Parents will overcome
                                           their hatred and denial
They have no real hope
                 only an angry resignation
                                  and a chip-on-shoulder style

So what can you do
If you feel moved to show one mercy
Read the Contract very carefully
Be prepared to suffer their fury
And risk taking them into your home
To dilute their acidic tears
With your basic selfless love
To overcome their hollow fears

If you do adopt one of them
They will be eternally grateful
And will love you in return
And no longer be hateful
And your reward will extend beyond
The soul you have co-opted
If you don't they will remain
Un-adopted
